This month our tip is about the
Formulas for verifying Index and Feed Calculations.
These following formulas are very
handy when you are cutting Helical gears. They will check your Index Ratio against the required
lead. If the lead is not specified on the print refer to the formula for lead that we had in the
Tips & Techniques column a few months ago.
Lead Error = Desired Lead - Developed Lead
K = Index Constant of the machine
If your lead is incorrect, the
following formula will indicate how much to change the lead.
