Our tip this month concerns the use of properly sharpened hobs. It is amazing how many people fell that they can sharpen a hob
properly on a tool and cutter grinder. It simply is not possible to set the exact correct rake, lead angle and get the exact
adjacent and non adjacent spacing required for the hob to cut as it was designed. Be sure that your hobs are sharpened on a
sharpening machine that was made for that purpose. I have "repaired" many hobbing machines over the years simply by
resharpening the hobs.
